You wouldn't be alone in the boat if you wanted to improve your job lot in life. Much of what you want to improve about your current position is in your control.

You might not believe this, especially being you’re an older fat guy that sees retirement screaming up to them but there are many great references change your surroundings.

I've immersed myself in many of these references and there a great deal you can do by just changing your perspective, and in doing so change the perspective of those around you.

Attitude is an essential part of twisting things to your own perspective. This is seen most plainly in The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. This book lays out the ground rules for a paradigm shift, which is simply put a small change in perspective and actions.

Is this too advanced to for the lazy? It could be so start with something easier, a smart storybook called Who Moved My Cheese? An Amazing Way to Deal with Change in Your Work and in Your Life. This deceptively simple book presents the idea of paridim shift in a simple story.
